When Work Works was founded by Families and Work Institute in 2005 in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for a Competitive Workforce and the Twiga Foundation, with funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. In 2011, Families and Work Institute and The Society for Human Resource Management announced a ground-breaking partnership designed to help organizations be more successful by transforming the way businesses view and adopt flexible workplace practices. The partnership’s mission is to share the research on how effective and flexible workplaces can benefit employers and employees, to share best practices and to help employers develop workplace cultures that fully embrace and implement strategies that will “move work forward.”

Workplace Excellence Survey

SHRM Hawaii has maintained a focus on helping the Hawaii HR leaders to achieve Workplace Excellence—an environment that is good for the employees, good for the company and good for the customers and the community.  One way we do that is through the annual Workplace Excellence Survey.  We have partnered with Metrus Group to offer a survey that provides insights on not only Engagement, but also Alignment—with business goals and strategies, and Capabilities –skills. Information and tools to meet the needs of your clients.  Metrus Group CEO Bill Schiemann, and leaders from Jack in the Box and Universal Weather presented examples of how this approach was developed, and how it has benefitted their organizations.
